BEHIND THE BAKES

Unveiling the Sweet Inspirations:

The Journey of Cake Creations

ORCHID POT

"I remember a friend who used to work at Lego Singapore who shared a post about their botanical collection. Immediately, my eyes were drawn to the orchid pot that's part of their botanical range. I like how the bright colours of the orchid and the neutral gray tones of the pot are juxtaposed against each other. There's something about it that is so elegantly put together and mature. I added the winged blades to give it dimension and angles to achieve the same cubic feeling of Legos. "

SPILL THE TEA

When you turn trash into treasure.

L.GREY

"It was a time when we had wrongfully ordered too many Earl Grey tea leaves, and we didn't want them to go to waste. I've always wanted to make an Earl Grey cake, and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. But I didn't want it to be just another Earl Grey cake; Chef Ernie used to work in a French restaurant where he made Vanilla Lavender crème brûlée, a truly hot seller, but can be pretty tricky as too much lavender can make it taste like eating a potpourri.  Getting the ratio and layering right is crucial, so I put it in the center of the cake.

Finally, for the crystals, I wanted to have an androgynous cake. Most of our patrons mention that our cakes tend to look very feminine, and it's hard to give them to male celebrants. So, the uncommon thing is stabbing a perfectly marbled cake with crystals. It's a bold move, which makes this cake interesting.

It's unapologetically true to herself.
